Oregon Trip - Tidal Pool & Sea Lion Caves

On Wednesday morning we got up and one of our destinations that day was to see the tidal pools so we had to make sure we got up early and headed to the beach in time for low tide. We weren't disappointed. There was more star fish here than I've ever seen.
These are the little suckers of the starfish that the starfish uses to hold himself to the rocks. They are strong suckers!

And then I spotted a cave - and I love caves so I HAD to go into it.

Climbing the rocks on the beach was fun! Here's David trying to break in this rock :)

After seeing the tidal pools we stopped at a spot where the seals were known to be and we spent some time watching the seals. They blend in so well with their environment it makes it hard to see them in this picture. After watching the whales for a while we travelled on down the road and stopped to watch the sea lions just outside the "Sea Lion Caves". The "Sea Lion Caves" is a tourist attraction that is kinda different. The animals are not in a cage but the humans are in behind bars.

As the tourist you take an elevator down inside the cliffs to the sea level and you are behind bars and you can a great view of one of the main breeding grounds of the sea lions. Again, it's hard to see them as they blend into their environment so well. This was a well done attraction to see the sea lions in their natural habitat.
